(More customer reviews)I have a laptop that was damaged and I was hoping to use this adapter to recover the data from the HD (SATA). The description of the item says nothing about it requiring a power adapter. Once I got the item and opened the manual you could see a big WARNING: In order to use this device you had to open up your computer and find a 4-pin power cable and connect it to the adapter. Now this wouldn't have been a big problem, if I wanted it connected to a desktop computer. Instead I wanted to connect it to another laptop I have. Out of luck. I suppose it will do the job for you if you can provide power using a 4-pin cable but I gave it 1 star since it was misrepresented. It may deserve more but it just waisted my time. I'm returning it and getting a Bytecc USB to SATA. It is about the same price and it comes with its own power supply.
